It was such a wonderful gift to learn that the blessing of the Second Initiation had been extended to our children. Since my husband and I had previously received that initiation ourselves, we were able to share the sacredness of the secret word with them when they were old enough to understand. What is more challenging is helping them understand the spiritual significance of the initiation itself and its benefits to them that they can relate to in their everyday lives.
1. Can you please share suggestions or insights on how we can help children appreciate the spiritual gift of the Second Initiation?
2. And how can parents foster a love for reading the youth discourses, without making it feel like more homework?
3. Also, how can we explain, when they are young, the importance of keeping their annual enrollment active as they get older? I know of many young adults who, in the busyness of their lives, unintentionally let their enrollment lapse, renewing it when reminded or when they are heading to an ECK seminar or event. Is there a way to help them see and appreciate the value of how their enrollment and study of the adult discourses move them toward initiations? Thank you, Z!

Dear Grateful for the Gift,
The Second Initiation frees the individual from having to reincarnate on the physical plane. Another benefit is that the Master gives the secret doctrine in both the awakened state and in dreams. He may also take on a chela’s karma, doling it out until the latter can work on it alone.
The password to all these benefits is one’s secret word. As individuals move onward in spiritual unfoldment, they enjoy more spaciousness and freedom in life.
The Second Initiation sees individuals dedicating their spiritual lives to the Holy Spirit, with the Inner Master’s guidance. The Master helps them see the golden spiritual opportunities in every part of their life.
And so, the individual learns the secret of true living firsthand.
1. How can parents help children appreciate the spiritual gift of the Second Initiation? We can’t make others appreciate what’s dear to us.
2. How can parents foster a love for reading the youth discourses and not make it seem like homework?
If the children are old enough to read, let them take turns reading the ECK discourse.
3. How do you explain the importance of keeping their annual enrollment active when they’re out on their own? You can remind them, but doing so is up to them.
It can be a real challenge for ECK parents to keep things interesting for their family. Do your best. And love each other.
